The film follows Bowie’s return to the spotlight after a decade away, culminating in two acclaimed albums, The Next Day (2013) and Blackstar (2016), as well as the ambitious stage production Lazarus.
Using previously unseen material, archive footage and behind-the-scenes images, Francis Whately creates an intimate portrait of an artist working largely away from the public eye. The result is a deeply personal and often moving portrait of an artist who, even in his final years, remained determined to create on his own terms.
