Francis Whately is a Bafta award winning British TV producer and director who has worked for the BBC for over 20 years. He has also made films for among others Netflix, A&E and HBO - most notably with the multi award winning ‘David Bowie Five Years’ trilogy.
His career spans Current Affairs, Science, History, Arts and Music – most notably with the multi award winning ‘David Bowie Five Years’ trilogy. Whately will present hclips from his fourth David Bowie film at HIMF 2026, this time about the years the artist spent in Berlin in the mid 1970’s. The film tells this story through the eyes of four women/muses who all had relationships with Bowie during this period.
