Nils Petter Molvær is one of Norway’s most distinctive and internationally celebrated jazz artists. As a pioneering trumpeter, composer, and producer, he has pushed the boundaries of jazz by blending its traditions with electronic music, creating a powerful and unmistakable sound. His groundbreaking career has earned him numerous accolades, including four Spellemann Awards as a solo artist and three more with the Norwegian group Masqualero.
At HIMF 2026, audiences will have the unique opportunity to experience Molvær both on screen and live. He is featured in The Sound of Air, and on Thursday evening, October 29, he will take to the stage for a special live performance before the screening. It promises to be a memorable opening to an evening celebrating music, film, and one of Norway’s most innovative musical voices.
