Torgrim Eggen

Writer and musician Torgrim Eggen will join Director Francis Whately for a conversation about Bowie’s years in Berlin and the significance of the period to his artistic development. Whately and Eggen will explore these questions alongside the artistic and historical themes of Bowie’s Berlin years.

Torgrim Eggen wrote his first article about David Bowie in 1980 (a review of the Scary Monsters album). Since then, he became a major music writer in Norway, and later an acclaimed novelist. In 2013, he published the non-fiction work «Berlin. Capital of the 20th Century», with a chapter about David Bowie in Berlin. This was also the subject of an extended essay in his three-part music history work «Art Rock» (2017).
